The need has arises towards the consideration of individual difference to let learners engage in and responsible for their own learning, retain information longer, apply the knowledge more effectively, have positive attitudes towards the subject, have more interest in learning materials, score higher and have high intrinsic motivation level. As regard to the importance of individual differences, Martinez (2000) has grounded a new theory, which is Intentional Learning Theory that covered individual aspects of cognitive, intention, social and emotion. This theory hypothesizes that the fundamental of understanding how individual learns, interact with an environment, performs, engages in learning, experiences learning, and assimilate and accommodate the new knowledge is by understanding individual’s fundamental emotions and intentions about how to use learning, why it is important, when the suitable time, and how it can accomplish personal goals and change. The intent of this theory is to focus on emotions and intentions of an individual regarding why, when and how learning goals are organized, processed, and achieved. In conclusion, Learning Orientations introduced by this theory describes the disposition of an individual in approaching, managing and achieving their learning intentionally and differently from others

AbstractIn the learning process, learning materials is one of the main factors to be considered by the instructor because it can contribute to the acceptance of students of knowledge presented. Learning material can consist of various forms and formats depending on whether teaching methods using technology or conventional. Learning materials format is related to the learning styles as students will inclined to a learning material based on their learning styles. Because of individual has a different learning style, then the needs of learning materials are also different. Hence a study was conducted to study the format of learning materials that match students’ learning styles based on Kolb's learning style model. A total of 39 students were involved as respondents in this study. To determine students’ learning styles, instruments LSI (Learning Style Inventory) were used. Whereas, to determine the formats of learning materials, interviews have been conducted on the students according to their learning style. Although Kolb learning styles are divided into four groups, however, this study showed that students’ learning materials format is divided into two groups only

Having the consideration of learning is a continuous effort put into the development of human capital and talent development for organizations of all kinds, scholarly interest in learning organization has consistently increased in the past decade due to its potential to create and disseminate valuable knowledge to enhance innovative performance and sustainable organizations. Knowing the increasing research in this field, this article analyzes and reports on various types of published works related to learning organizations. This study adopted a bibliometric analysis based on the data obtained from Scopus database as at date 24 January 2021. Keywords through search string are utilised for the search results and found 1,671 valid documents for further analysis. Authors have employed VOSviewer for data visualization purpose, Harzing Publish Or Perish and R for standard bibliometric indicators, particularly on the growth rate of publications, analysis of the citation, and research productivity. Findings revealed analysis of document type, source type, top language used, subject area, research trend, top countries, top influential institutions, most productive authors, most active source, top keywords used, and citation analysis. As this study is only using one of the major databases, Scopus, hence, there is a limitation in the search results. Another limitation is in the case where authors are having few registrations in the same database which will affect the accuracy of the productivity in authorship and affiliation details. In this paper, we identify future research directions and future research agenda in learning organization. (Abstract by authors

    Get PDF
